I am so excited to begin my eighth full-time year at Big Hollow. I have been working within the school district since 2003. Previously, I was assigned as a contactual school social worker from the Special Education District of Lake County (SEDOL). I am proud to announce that I was hired as a Big Hollow employee this school year!! I have always felt part of the Big Hollow family and now it is official.
I received my bachelor's degree in psychology from Illinois State University. After graduation I worked for a child welfare agency. Within seven years, I was promoted into an administrative position. I was responsible for the Relative Foster care program, Youth Development Program, Pregnant and Parenting teen program and an After Care program for children who were recently returned to their parents' care from DCFS. I continued to work and simultaneously began my master's program. I graduated with honors from the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana with a master's degree in social work.
I moved to Wisconsin with my husband and our three sons. Currently, my oldest son, Zachary, has been serving in the Army for the past three years and has plans to be a high school art teacher. Nicholas is in his second year of college for civil engineering and Matthew is a junior in high school.
This is my eighteenth year as a school social worker and I tell the kids I have the best job in the building, because I do!! I am allowed to talk, play and assist children with social skills, problem solving and coping skills. I also provide consultation to teachers, administration and support to parents and caretakers of our children. As a team, we can have an amazing 2016-2017 school year and provide a strong educational foundation that empowers students to excel and instills the desire for life-long learning. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
